The Wayne Theatre has been a fixture in Waynesboro since 1926, when it first opened its doors as a vaudeville venue. The theatre shut down in 1999, and to prevent the demolition of the iconic structure, the Wayne Theatre Alliance was founded out of a passion for the community.
The Wayne reopened in 2016 and has since been back stronger than ever. The renovation was a labor of love, with details like a logo which mirrors the stunning stained-glass window on the theater’s façade. Thus, this year marks both the theatre’s 100th and 10th anniversaries.
The main goal: Unite the community. The Wayne hosts countless cultural events, like classic film nights, a touring performing arts company, musicals, speaker series, concerts, sensory-friendly shows, art gallery exhibitions, educational programs, and much more.
