In the April issue of Virginia Living, we travel to Petersburg where we meet a group of city leaders, entrepreneurs and artists whose optimism for the future of their city is infectious. An exciting new arts and dining scene has emerged there in recent years, along with a spate of development throughout the cobblestoned streets of Old Towne where shining contemporary lofts and storefronts neighbor some of our state’s most historic sites. We offer a menu for a fresh spring brunch featuring yogurt-marinated leg of lamb, fava salad with mint, feta and red onion, radishes with yuzu kosho ghee and more of the season’s vibrant produce. We introduce you to Chris Fultz and Alex Graf, the duo behind one of Richmond’s favorite barbecue joints ZZQ, and Gareth and Maggie Moore, owners of Virginia Distillery Co. in Nelson County, and visit 144-acre Ben-Coolyn Farm in Keswick, whose extensive formal gardens will be open Sunday, April 22 for Historic Garden Week. Plus, we go to Halifax County, the North American home of legacy British racecar maker Ariel where we test out the Atom, a sexy high performance street racer. In our annual special flipbook issue, Health & Wellness, we look into the benefits of goat yoga and superfood spirulina algae, and offer guides to kombucheries and juice bars around the state. Plus, we offer inspiration for the well-composed salad and a look at why Harrisonburg has become a locus for forward thinking cyclists. Get your April 2018 issue now!

Weighing a mere 34 tons, one of four manganese bronze ship propellers from the S.S. United States once propelled the 990-foot ship, built in 1951 and retired in 1969. […]
From Dior to Dessès, UVA’s historic clothing collection
A 1795 off-white, wool men’s jacket and breeches with a dark tan silk brocade waistcoat; a black silk taffeta, beaded mourning bustle skirt and bodice from the 1880s; and three Christian Dior ensembles from the ’60s and ’80s—all found in the University of Virginia’s Historic Clothing Collection, housed underneath the Culbreth Theater. For Marcy Linton, […]
