When a shared passion for wine grew into a greater passion for each other, Amy Gayman and Frank Stokes knew that a winery would be the perfect spot for their wedding. After all, the Charlotte, North Carolina, banker had proposed marriage to Amy on a trip to Napa Valley. However, they decided to look closer to home when choosing a wedding venue. Frank’s family had visited Chateau Morrisette in Virginia for years, and the couple is a big fan of the wine. Living in Charlotte and planning the wedding in Floyd did present “a few challenges,” she adds. A ceremony officiant recommended by the winery canceled a week before the wedding. “Fortunately, Frank’s cousin in Blacksburg found a woman who performs weddings and was absolutely wonderful!” Amy explains. On the big day, they tossed aside superstitions and arranged for photographs together before the ceremony. “We just wanted to be able to spend as much time with family and friends at the reception as we could,” says Amy.
