Beers and More on Virginia Blue Ridge Cheers Trail

Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains aren’t just home to the Moonshine Capital of the World— the region is also where you can find dozens of breweries, wineries, and distilleries.

Case in point: The Virginia Blue Ridge Cheers Trail invites visitors to discover all of the area’s boozy offerings, which extend over five cities and counties. “You don’t have to travel far from where you’re staying to hit several spots on the trail,” says Kathryn Lucas, PR director at Visit Virginia’s Blue Ridge. “Downtown Roanoke has seven breweries that are located within a one-mile radius of each other, so you can ‘check-in’ to multiple breweries on your Cheers Trail Passport without even needing a car.” While there are stops as far afield as McAfee Knob, Lucas recommends Roanoke as the most convenient starting point for exploring the trail and suggests stopping by the Virginia’s Blue Ridge Visitor Information Center, where the knowledgeable staff can help create the perfect itinerary.
