Richmond is a big city, but it can be a small town when it comes to finding love. Ashley Davis and Chris Young grew up attending rival schools and knew a lot of the same people, but it was not until after college—Ashley at University of Richmond and Savannah College of Art & Design, and Chris at Davidson College—that they met. As Chris, who is currently in medical school at VCU, got to know Ashley, he realized her connection to family was as strong as his own. For the proposal, he arranged for a weekend of family events that included Ashley’s dog, Tally. “After blabbering something about Tally having a tick and getting down on a knee to examine, I managed to stumble and bumble my way to popping the question,” says Chris. The April nuptials featured a romantic theme with a blush pink, gold and navy color palette to complement Dover Hall’s elegant Victorian manor and gardens. Ashley’s parents even surprised the couple with a life-size cutout of Tally that stood midway down the aisle during the ceremony.
