What’s in a name? Sometimes, your future. Before romance would have a turn, Natalie Martirosian and Daniel Mason were thrown together when a graduate-school class assigned seats by students’ last names. By Christmas of that year, they were more than seatmates. After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, they went in different directions, but their relationship remained strong. So when Dan, who was living in Boulder, Colorado, proposed to Natalie, who was visiting from her home in San Francisco, she happily accepted. Wanting to return to the traditions of her childhood home of Richmond, the pair selected St. James’s Episcopal Church for the ceremony and the Country Club of Virginia for the reception. Natalie’s vision for a “farm-table” concept in the center of the reception space led to the creation of a unique floral canopy by Terry White of White House Flowers. “It was such a big open space that I thought it would be nice to add something over the head table,” says Natalie. “The canopy made it really whimsical and elegant … like a midsummer night’s dream.”
