Office romances can be tricky. Sarah Dickerson and Jesse Cahill know this. Both advertising executives with Mediacom Inc. subsidiaries, Sarah and Jesse met in 2011, when Jesse’s group moved from Los Angeles to New York City. When Sarah discovered that it was the newcomer’s birthday just a few days after moving, she invited him to join her and other colleagues for dinner. “We were immediately drawn to each other,” says Sarah. “But despite our continued attraction we were careful not to act on it.” By year’s end, however, Jesse had changed jobs and their romance could begin. Three years later, the pair was engaged and trying to decide on a wedding venue. They knew they wanted to get married outdoors and loved the mountains in Jesse’s native Virginia. “Chateau Morrisette was the first place we visited in Virginia, and we fell in love immediately,” says Sarah, a Pennsylvania native. The couple honored the beauty of their mountain setting by limiting wedding décor to small floral displays and pearl studded centerpieces. Sarah’s godmother officiated the ceremony and incorporated a knot tying ritual called “handfasting” into the vows. Says Sarah, “As the knot tied in the ceremony, the pure delight of that moment was so apparent in our faces!”
