“We’re like mini-travel planners,” says Lauren Cecil, 28, co-founder with Jason Johnson, 27, of the Ruckersville-based venture. The two met while working as adventure guides in California and, since their 2013 start, have helped glampers from New York to Georgia.
How does it work? All you have to do is pick your spot and show up. In fact, you don’t even have to do that. Solid Ground will find a location to your liking. Just describe the setting you want, from the beach to your own backyard, from family reunions to huge music festivals like FloydFest. Of course, if all you want provided is a tent, erected and broken down, no problem. But it seems a shame to just say no to all the options that are included. Tents start at 133 square feet for $250 per night with a two-night minimum.
Certain amenities and services are included with tent rentals. When you arrive, for instance, your campfire sits ready to light, with chopped wood at the ready for the next. The groceries you requested are waiting. Even the gourmet s’more kit is top notch, with quality chocolate and handmade marshmallows.
