FERIDIES 5 0’Clock Crunch

Located in the heart of Southampton County, one of the world’s largest peanut-producing areas, FERIDIES (an acronym derived from the names of the company’s founding families) has raised the bar with its jazzed-up snack mixes. Family-owned since its founding in 1973 by twins Bob and Bill Riddick, the company makes conglomerations like Power Hour Mix (salted peanuts, almonds and cashews with chocolate covered pretzel balls and dark chocolate covered pomegranate arils) and Seaside Crunch (peanuts, oat bran nuggets, roasted pepper sesame sticks, garlic-flavored sesame sticks, green peas and salted corn chips). Our fave is 5 O’Clock Crunch: honey-roasted peanuts and sesame sticks, cheese crackers, chili-lemon corn sticks, honey-mustard pretzel sticks and salted corn chips—with flax seed, to ease the conscience. The name? “It’s time to enjoy and be with friends,” says partner Jane Fries. 5 O’Clock Crunch, $15.95 per 28-ounce can. Feridies.com
