Décor Trends from the High Point Market

By Katie Farthing

It’s one of the largest home furnishing trade shows in the world,  a biannual event that showcases the latest trends and innovations in furniture, accessories, and home décor. Read on for three noteworthy trends from the Spring 2024 High Point Market, destined to make their way onto homeowner’s wish lists everywhere.

DuVal Reynolds of DuVäl Design, an interior design firm based in Fairfax, was excited to note that “organic shapes and sustainable materials were prominently featured, reflecting a growing interest in designs that are both environmentally conscious and aesthetically pleasing,” he says.

Soft shapes like curved sofas and scalloped edges (think tables and fabric) can add a touch of elegance and harmony. Plus, they automatically plump up a room’s welcome and comfort factors.

Layered neutrals were another dominant trend. Using shades of beige, taupe, latte, and ivory, showroom designers created sophisticated and inviting spaces that also incorporated materials like linen, leather, and natural wood to add depth and interest.
