Café au Poivre
The Can Can Brasserie shares with Virginia Living three of its finest holiday cocktail recipes that serve as festive, mouth-tingling additions to your after-dinner Thanksgiving or Christmas menu: Café au Poivre, L’Ancienne Reparation, and Goût de L’Hiver.
Café au Poivre
(Coffee with Pepper)
3⁄4 ounce Absolut Peppar
3⁄4 ounce Godiva dark chocolate liqueur
4 ounces cold brew coffee
Pour ingredients over ice in shaker and strain into glass mug. Top with fresh whipped cream and several dashes of cinnamon.
L’Ancienne Reparation
(Old Fashioned Remedy)
1 1⁄2 ounces Bulleit bourbon
1 ounce honey syrup ( 1⁄2 hot water, 1⁄2 honey)
2 slices blood orange
dash of bitters
Muddle oranges, bitters and honey syrup in the bottom of a rocks glass. Fill with ice and add bourbon.
Goût de L’Hiver
(Taste of Winter)
1 1⁄2 ounces Grey Goose Poire vodka
1⁄2 ounce Canton ginger cognac
1⁄2 ounce rosemary syrup
2 ounces cranberry juice
Pour all ingredients over ice in a shaker and strain into martini glass. Garnish with sprig of rosemary. Note: To make rosemary syrup, submerge 1 stalk of rosemary in jar filled with 1 part water and 1 part sugar. Let sit overnight.
