Want to taste the official best cocktail in Virginia? The Hotel Roanoke can now claim that title, thanks to lead mixologist Henry Hill, Jr. The longtime bartender won the inaugural Virginia Cocktail Games in 2024 with his cocktail called “No Place Like Home.” The boozy concoction was inspired by the prompt: Why do you choose Virginia? “That was a big question to answer, but as I sat with it, memories of my childhood sparked the idea of paying homage to important people who taught me big life lessons,” Hill says. “So each flavor profile tells a story. I wanted to share those stories and memories as reminders of things we shouldn’t take for granted in this lifetime.” The cocktail will be available at Hotel Roanoke through September.
