Dear Governor Timothy M. Kaine of the Commonwealth of Virginia,
Her Majesty would like to thank you for your recent visit to the royal palace. The Queen graciously accepts your invitation to the 400th anniversary celebration of Jamestown in May of the year 2007. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, will also be in attendance.
While I am thrilled to accompany Her Majesty and Prince Philip to Virginia, I would like to express a note of concern. Queen Elizabeth II will most assuredly want to take tea while visiting. My concern is this: Southern tea is to English tea as American football is to English football. The Queen prefers her tea served hot, not cold, and measures her sugar for taste by the lump, not by the pound (pound meaning the unit of weight, not our form of currency). I am concerned that the Queen will consume out of courtesy any tea that is presented her. At her age, the shock of an exorbitant amount of sugar may be too much for her heart to bear, I fear. I appreciate your discretion in addressing this matter.
