Pro football has Peyton and Eli Manning. Politics had Jack, Bobby and Ted Kennedy. And Richmond Ballet has not one, but two pairs of accomplished brothers—Matthew and Connor Frain, and Trevor and Marty Davis.

“I get to see somebody that I watched grow up physically, but also now artistically,” says 27-year-old Matthew Frain, who joined Richmond Ballet’s professional company in 2012.

Hailing from Chicago, he and Connor, 23, both began their ballet careers studying at the Chicago Academy for the Arts. “You get to push each other in a positive way,” says Connor, who landed a spot in Richmond Ballet II, the ballet’s second company, in 2013.

“It’s fun,” says Marty Davis, 27, who joined Trevor, 26, in the professional company in 2013. “There’s a healthy competition between us. It’s nice to be able to share a professional experience with my brother, not many people get to do that.” Originally from Sacramento, the brothers attended Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Trevor joined Richmond Ballet in 2008 as an apprentice, and then in 2010 was promoted to the professional company.
