Treetop tour brings incredible views in exhilarating adventures

Imagine soaring 65 feet in the air through the high Alleghany Mountain treetops at speeds up to 35 mph, catching 3,000-plus-foot panoramic views of the Warm Springs Valley and distant Blue Ridge Mountains. A pair of zip line canopy tours at Bath County’s Omni Homestead Resort do just that. The 30-minute Red Tail Racer tour offers a milder, less rigorous experience that starts midway up the ski area and sends participants rocketing down two quarter-mile-long lines. It’s fun, but the Ridge Runner is in a class of its own. The three-hour, guided adventure begins at a 65-foot tower near the ski area summit and zigzags across the mountainside via nine stations—two of which require 20-40 foot repels—to cover a total aerial distance of more than 4,000 feet.
