Junko Liesfeld's Aesthetic

I first became acquainted with Junko as a doll artist, following in her mother's footsteps and whose work earned her election to the National Institute of American Doll Artists. Her cloth doll figures, like her garden designs, express a Japanese point of view. They are not realistic but suggest personality and character through suggestion and careful positioning and costuming. I had stayed at Junko's home in the 1980s and enjoyed revisiting her garden through your description. I especially remember sitting in front of that beautiful fireplace you mention with only a recording of soulful South American flute music breaking the silence.I believe she said that a Japanese friend in Brazil was the composer.
