Virginia’s Stadium Food Hall of Fame

What says summer more than a Friday night cheering on your hometown baseball team? Add stadium cuisine, and you’ve created the perfect American pastime. Virginia’s ballparks serve local flavors that rival the talent on the field and turn game day into a sensory feast.

While Boston boasts its Fenway Franks and Los Angeles claims its Dodger Dogs, Virginia’s ballparks serve up their own roster of all-star eats. Throughout the Commonwealth, each stadium showcases regional specialties that celebrate Virginia.

At The Diamond, Richmond Flying Squirrels fans rally around the legendary “Squirrely Fries”—a mountain of crispy potatoes in curly ringlets. These signature fries attract River City residents as much for the food as for the baseball.

Harbor Park transforms Norfolk Tides games into seafood celebrations with Chesapeake Bay–inspired delicacies. Crab cake sandwiches feature sweet lump crabmeat, minimally seasoned to let natural flavors shine, while the “Chesapeake Fries,” dusted with Old Bay, capture the essence of coastal Virginia in every bite.

The Virginia Credit Union Stadium elevates the Fredericksburg Nationals experience with their “Constitutional Cheesesteaks”—revolutionary subs filled with shaved steak and molten cheese that would make Philadelphia jealous. These flavor-packed sandwiches have quickly become the FredNats’ unofficial mascot.

Salem Red Sox fans head straight to “The Bigs” concession stand at Salem Memorial Ballpark for their signature “Fat Sandwich”—a glorious mix of tenders and mozzarella sticks smothered in marinara—requiring both hands and plenty of napkins.

The Hillcats’ home turf in Lynchburg pays homage to whatever team they might be competing against. When the Fayetteville Woodpeckers showed up, the ‘cats fired up the smoker to create their very own “Pecker Legs”—smoked chicken wings coated in brown sugar and cumin—delectable bites worth cheering for.
