“Modern Naval Craft” Collectible Cards of 1939

In 1939, on the eve of World War II in Europe, John Player & Sons of Nottingham, England, issued a series of 50 cigarette cards that featured naval vessels from around the world.  Vessels from the Axis and Allies were included and featured the artwork of British artist Frank Mason.  Mason was known for his maritime paintings and his art deco travel and railway posters.  Join Virginia War Memorial Director of Education, Jim Triesler, as he showcases these historic naval images and discusses the service of the ships during the war.   Although free, register early for this ONLINE ONLY event:  vawarmemorial.org/events Registration: https://bit.ly/42goslJ
