Heather Beardsley’s “Tell the Bees” at Virginia MOCA

Heather Beardsley’s Tell the Bees is an art exhibit focused on sustainability and the importance of bees. Concerned about the decline in biodiversity, Beardsley created bee hotels from local materials to support native pollinators. The main feature is an interactive sculpture called Conversations with Bees. Visitors can speak into a microphone, sending messages to bees nearby. This symbolizes our connection to nature. The exhibit also includes a community project with lenticular prints that mix old Virginia Beach images with elements of a healthy ecosystem. This project encourages people to think about the impact of biodiversity. Tell the Bees is an invitation to learn, engage, and take action for a better environment.
