Birthday EqualiTEA Sunday, July 27, 2025 2:00 PM 4:00 PM Muse Gallery, 1st Floor, W16, Workhouse Arts Center In celebration of what would have been Lucy Burn’s 146th birthday, the Lorton Prison Museum featuring the Lucy Burns Gallery hosts an afternoon EqualiTEA to honor Lucy Burns and other the suffragists and their fight for the right to vote. Tea and tea parties are deeply ingrained in the history of the woman’s suffrage movement, from planning to fundraising. Tea enthusiast Nancy Rodriguez of Cup & Crown shares the history of tea from England to the US and how the suffragists incorporated it into their cause, while participants enjoy a variety of black teas and sweet* accompaniments. A special tour of the Lucy Burns Museum, with its exhibition commemorating the suffragists who were imprisoned at the Workhouse in 1917, follows the tea. Teas served – Apricot Green Tea: A refreshing blend of green tea with fruity apricot flavor with sweet and tart notes. Mango Black Tea: A combination of fine Ceylon tea with the juicy qualities of a sweet, ripe mangoes. Decaf offerings: A variety of fruity herbal teas from Harney & Sons. *Please note that the pastries served contain wheat, dairy, eggs, and other allergens. Currently, we are unable to make substitutions to accommodate dietary restrictions. There are no discounts for participants who attend and choose not to consume items offered. Early bird tickets ($39) available before July 1, 2025. Regular tickets ($45) on sale until 5PM on Friday, July 25, 2025.
