250th Anniversary of Lord Dunmore’s Virginia Campaign

After dissolving the House of Burgesses in Williamsburg and in the midst of rising unrest, Dunmore escaped to a British ship in the York River on June 8, 1775. From there, he organized numerous raids and attacks along the waterfront. We’ll take a look back at this pivotal moment in American history during a week filled with reenactments, musical performances, and family-friendly activities. This event is part of the Virginia 250 Celebration and is open to the public.

On Saturday, June 7, and Sunday, June 8, we’ll offer a patriotic salute to our Armed Forces, celebrating the contributions of our American heroes — both past and present — as part of Military Appreciation Weekend. The free, accessible Yorktown Trolley will be running during this event.
