Call to Indigenous Artists

The Library of Virginia announces an open Call to Indigenous Artists for submissions for our May 3 First Fridays exhibition, Virginia Stories: Indigenous Community.

The Library honors Virginia’s 11 federally and state-recognized tribes in its current exhibition, “Indigenous Perspectives,” running through Aug. 17 in the Exhibition Gallery. For this First Fridays exhibition in May, however, artwork may be submitted for consideration from any Indigenous person residing in Virginia, regardless of the tribe, in order to expand opportunities for learning, understanding and self-expression.

Works should reflect the artist’s experiences, observations, communities and/or culture. The deadline for submissions for the May show is April 10.
